CHRISTY FRASER (#mfc 43014)
Christy was born and raised in the San Francisco Bay Area. She
completed her undergraduate work at Sonoma State University and
her graduate work at the College of Notre Dame in Belmont.
Christy has always enjoyed working with children and her
original intent was to pursue a teaching credential. After much
research and thought, Christy decided that earning a masters
degree in counseling would better meet her career ambitions. She
was drawn to the idea of expanding her work beyond just school
age children. With counseling, she could work with both children
and adults in individual and group settings. The family setting
is a focal point of Christy's practice.
In the earlier part of Christy's fifteen-year career, she worked
in schools leading groups and counseling individuals. She
facilitated children-of-divorce, well-being and socialization
groups. She also worked with high-risk parents who had
afflictions with drug and alcohol abuse, mental illness,
domestic violence, sexual abuse, and/or repercussions from
abandonment. In more recent years, Christy's practice has
broadened to include therapeutic supervised visits, off-site
visits, and regular supervised visitation. One primary purpose
of Christy's work is to help keep families connected. For this,
Christy receives tremendous professional and personal
satisfaction.
